The Federal Council has described the situation as \"extraordinary\", in the sense of Art. 7 of the Epidemics Act. As a result, it has taken exceptional measures, which are constantly being stepped up, to limit the spread of the virus and thus safeguard public health. How does this situation affect dental care in Switzerland? Can you still see your dentist in Lausanne, Fribourg or Aigle? HELVIDENT answers your questions and shares the official recommendations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The effects of coronavirus in the dental sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a decision by the Federal Council, hospitals, clinics, doctors' surgeries and dental practices are no longer authorized to carry out non-urgent procedures or treatments. This means that dental practices can remain open subject to restrictions. Activity is massively reduced and strictly limited to emergency procedures. The aim of this measure is to limit non-essential contact between people, some of whom are potentially infected by the new coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Urgent dental treatment&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In concrete terms, non-essential and elective treatments must be postponed. Essential treatments remain authorized. These include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>treatment of pain&nbsp;<\/li><li>accidents involving the oral cavity<\/li><li>processes or situations that are damaging or potentially damaging to the structures of the masticatory system<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, dentists in Switzerland are only allowed to see their patients in cases of<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/helvident.ch\/en\/dental-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\">dental emergency<\/a>. You can consult us if you are suffering from toothache, a painful abscess, an oral infection, a broken tooth, bleeding or dental trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Non-emergency dental treatment&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Swiss Association of Cantonal Dentists (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/kantonszahnaerzte.ch\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swiss Association of Cantonal Dentists<\/a> AMDCS, the following treatments are not considered urgent. They must therefore be postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>dental hygiene and prophylaxis treatments<\/li><li>dental check-ups<\/li><li>care <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"dental caries (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/helvident.ch\/en\/tooth-decay\/\" target=\"_blank\">dental caries<\/a><\/li><li>prosthetic work\u00a0<\/li><li>elective surgery<\/li><li>aesthetic treatments such as <a href=\"https:\/\/helvident.ch\/en\/tooth-whitening-dangers-and-effective-solutions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"tooth whitening (opens in a new tab)\">teeth whitening<\/a>\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of orthodontic treatment, only progress checks that cannot be postponed and orthodontic emergencies are permitted.
